[Resolved] Latency/slow response times for Learn.UQ (Blackboard)

ITS is aware of latency/slow response times for Learn.UQ (Blackboard) and is investigating urgently with the vendor.

In the last few minutes API/LTI integrations have started failing and error messages may start appearing.

Update The vendor has added additional capacity for Learn.UQ (Blackboard) and this has stabilised the Learn.UQ environment. ITS will continue monitoring, and since 10am there has been a significant improvement.

The instability for Learn.UQ (Blackboard) earlier today was related to Grades Release. (10:00 AEST — Dec 3)

Resolution The vendor has added additional capacity for Learn.UQ (Blackboard) and this has stabilised the Learn.UQ environment. ITS will continue monitoring, and since 10am there has been a significant improvement.

[Resolved] Learn.UQ (Blackboard) LTI services outage

From approximately 17:00hrs Monday 20th October there is an unscheduled outage for all LTI services. During this time any external systems, including Echo360 and Turnitin, are inaccessible to Staff and Students.

Update The University of Queensland is aware of a global internet service disruption affecting cloud services which is impacting the operation of Blackboard (Learn.UQ).

API and LTI integrations are beginning to respond normally as of a few minutes ago. ITS is monitoring and will continue checking services. (19:41 AEST — Oct 20)

Resolution The internet outage/disruption has been resolved and Learn.UQ (Blackboard) returned to normal service at about 19:30 tonight. TurnItIn returned to normal service at 20:00 tonight. (20:00 AEST — Oct 20)

ITS advises that the UQ Workplace Inductions and Training (OHSB0000N_0000_00000) course will not be available during Tuesday night while it is being updated. While this work is being carried out, student access to courses will be normal. For academics only, if you update your course during this time then the automatic email notification may not be sent to students.

Resolution The OHS update was completed at 10.07pm (22:07 AEST — Sep 30)

[Resolved] Some menu items are disappearing from Blackboard courses

ITS is aware that menu items for Blackboard courses are not always displaying correctly. Examples include Assessments, Learning Resources and there may be other menu items which are not appearing properly.

This may be preventing students from submitting Assessment items and students may not be able to access Learning Resources for some courses.

ITS is taking this issue up with Anthology (vendor). This may be related to the ongoing SCORM issues, or it may be a separate issue happening at the same time.

Resolution The vendor (Anthology) deployed a fix to stabilise the Learn.UQ (Blackboard) system resolving the issues affecting the menu interface, latency and content related issues. (01:00 AEST — Aug 9)

[Resolved] Access to UQ Respect and OHS training modules unavailable

A suspected service bug is preventing access for students to the mandatory UQ Respect training module hosted in the Essentials.Learn environment.

This bug is also preventing access to several OHS related training courses that are hosted in Learn.UQ (Blackboard).

A P1 service request has been logged with the support vendor.

Update The vendor has confirmed that this incident has been prioritised, with their engineering teams currently working towards a resolution.

The scope of impact for UQ is as follows:

Any Learn.UQ course / any content on Essentials.Learn that uses the SCORM Engine are impacted
Learn.UQ: 124 semester 2 courses have some content which is impacted, as well as some semester 1 courses
Essentials: Respect at UQ and the Core Cultural Modules are impacted (12:28 AEST — Aug 8)

Resolution The vendor (Anthology) deployed a fix to the Blackboard Essentials and Blackboard (Learn.UQ) platforms.

Normal access for Respect at UQ, the Core Cultural Modules and OHS training modules has resumed. (01:00 AEST — Aug 9)
